eVoice yesterday released the results of a survey commissioned in Feb 2013 and conducted by j2 Global to measure how SMB owners are using mobile devices in the workplace. The survey respondents were approximately 500 SMB owners from randomly selected websites.
The main survey finding was that SMB owners in particular are driving the adoption of mobile devices in the workplace. To be more specific, 36% of these SMBs replied that they are using at least three mobile devices to run their business. Despite the rise in mobile device use, many SMBs still wish to keep their cell numbers private, with 75% of survey respondents saying that they won’t share personal numbers with staff, while 82% said that they wouldn’t share with vendors.
Additional survey findings are as follows:
- Women are 8% more likely to share their personal cell phone number with clients and staff.
- 58% of respondents use text messaging at least once a month for business.
- 40% of those polled prefer to use Apple devices in their workplace.
- Only 18% of respondents listen to Voicemails from unknown numbers, while 33% listen to Voicemails from clients and co-workers.
