LenovoEMC recently announced the global availability of two new px4-400 models at the International CES tradeshow in Las Vegas, NV. The two models, LenovoEMC px-4-400r and px4-400d are network storage devices designed to offer up to 16TB (4 by 4TB) of protected storage space.
The LenovoEMC px4-400r is a 1U, four-bay rackmount Server Class NAS designed for SMBs up to 75 users. This particular model offers advanced data protection as well as local and remote content sharing, and is compatible with Windows, Linux, and Mac devices. The px4-400r also utilizes Lenovo’s LifeLine operating system, which features standard Windows applications, such as the Windows Active Directory domain, as well as support for third-party applications. Lenovo explained that any third-party apps added to the system will appear as new icons on the Network Storage device interface. The LenovoEMC px4-400r also includes eSATA, USB 3.0 and HDMI ports, and leverages 7200rpm SATA III server class drives.
Like the LenovoEMC px4-400r, the px4-400d features the LifeLine operating system designed for up to 75 users with the 7200rpm SATA III server class drives. However, the LenovoEMC px4-4400d is a high performance, four bay desktop NAS. This particular model is expected to read and write up to 25% faster than the previous version. The user interface is coded for 18 different languages.
Both new models come with Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012 R2, VMware vSphere ESX 5.5 iSCSI and NAS, XenServer™ 6.1, 6.2 (w/ MPIO), iSCSI & NFS.
