Today, Dell Software announced that it has released the latest version of its Dell KACE K2000 Deployment Appliance. Version 3.6 includes an updated task engine and multicasing features, and has been designed to better automate and accelerate operating system migrations (XP migrations, for example), or application migrations.
In fact, Dell explained that the Dell KACE K2000 v3.6 device was built to provide a full application approach to migrations and provisioning. Key features of this solution include:
- User-friendly, tab-based web console interface.
- May be deployed as either a physical or virtual appliance.
- Updated task engine, which can function in a “lights-off” mode, or after-hours mode to reduce the administrative overhead of an organization’s IT department.
- Multicasing feature which allows users to deploy images on up to 250 multiple devices at the same time.
- Lower bandwidth use, as all requests are sent to the network once and once only.
- Able to deploy system images across a wide range of devices, including tablets and servers.
“In today’s complex IT environments, IT administrators increasingly are seeking system imaging solutions that stretch far beyond the traditional creation and utilization of static PC images. Imaging solutions that offer advanced capabilities for centralizing and layering image files, enabling process workflows, automating task sequencing and streamlining the deployment of images to a wide range of device types across distributed environments can greatly enhance the IT organization’s ability to deliver up-to-date images while also minimizing unnecessary business user downtime,” said Robert Young, research manager, Client Device and IT Services Management Software, IDC, in a press release today.
Dell reported that 83% of their existing KACE customers saw return on investment within 6 months. In addition, most of their deployments (80%) have been in the M-space. The Dell KACE K2000 v3.6 is available for $4500, including 100 managed nodes and support for the latest operating systems on Windows and Apple devices. Current KACE customers are able to upgrade their platform for free.
