Toshiba to Introduce Virtualization Offerings in Late 2013

Toshiba logoEarlier this week, the digital products division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc. announced plans to add Toshiba Virtual Desktop Services to their offerings in Q4 2013.  At the time of this announcement, the service would allow small, medium and large organizations to quickly deploy virtual desktops to meet their mobile-worker, BYOD and budget needs.

The Toshiba Virtual Desktop Services is based on a partnership with VMware and Citrix, which allows clients’ Windows, Android, iOS and Linux Operating Systems and applications to be hosted on Toshiba’s hybrid data center, and then streamed on-demand to users’ devices. Applications can then be centrally-managed, which enables organizations to foster their BYOD programs and ensure data remains secure.

“Today’s organizations have an ever-growing need to secure corporate data, while controlling capital expenses – finding the right balance can be a challenge,” said Scott Sims, Vice President of Cloud Solutions & Engineering, Toshiba America Information Systems, Digital Products Division, in a press release this week. “That’s why more and more organizations are choosing to implement hosted virtual desktops – like the Toshiba Virtual Desktop Service – as the smarter alternative to expensive on-premise solutions.”

Additional features of the new Virtual Desktop Services include:

  •        Cost-effective option for organizations without a dedicated IT department.
  •        Caters to a wide variety of work styles, including mobile workers.
  •        Reduced downtime.
  •        Quick deployment of desktops.
