RapidFire Tools, Inc. Releases New HIPAA IT Compliance Tool

RFTRapidFire Tools, Inc. recently released the Network Detective HIPAA Compliance module, a comprehensive compliance tool designed to help MSPs navigate the often-choppy waters of HIPAA. Mike Mittel, President of RapidFire Tools, took some time to speak with me today about the new module, as well as the current HIPAA environment in the IT field.

To begin our call, Mike told me that RapidFire Tools began the development of this new compliance tool six months ago, when they received a high number of client requests for a solution that MSPs can use to ensure HIPAA compliance. To build this solution, Mike and his team held online user meetings to get a good idea of what their clients needed, and built the solution from the perspective of what an auditor looks for.

He explained that the two most common penalties in a HIPAA audit are: failure to adopt the required policies and procedures, and failure to do a risk analysis. RapidFire Tools worked with HIPAA experts to develop this new module, and as a result, the Network Detective HIPAA Compliance Module includes a Risk and Management Plan, a Policy and Procedures Document, an Evidence of HIPAA Compliance Document and an IT Security Exception Worksheet. This solution is also fully automated, easy to use, and can produce official reports to ensure proper compliance.

What does this mean for you? Mike explained that violation of HIPAA goes beyond legal fines, it can damage a medical practices’ reputation. This is the same for the MSP in charge of the practice’s data as well, which can be quite a large burden on the MSP. In fact, Mike says that the Network Detective HIPAA Compliance Module should be first used on the MSP’s program to ensure they have all of the proper procedures in place. Also, although HIPAA requires a risk assessment to be performed no less than once a year, RapidFire Tools suggests running risk assessments more often. But on the sales side, MSPs are now able to offer their clients Compliance-as-a-Service with this new module.

“This is the Holy Grail of tools for any IT professional who works on computers and networks that utilize electronic medical records, whether they work within the walls of the covered entities, or serve them as outsourced IT service providers,” said Michael Mittel, President of RapidFire Tools, Inc.

The Network Detective HIPAA Compliance module is available as a standalone solution, or as part of a bundle with the rest of the Network Detective assessment tools. It’s based on a fixed-fee, yearly subscription price, with unlimited usage. More information about this tool can be found at: https://www.rapidfiretools.com/nd_hcm.shtml.
