Parks Associates Releases SMB Tech Support Survey Results

Parks Associates logoYesterday, Parks Associates, a Dallas, TX-based analyst firm, released the results of their study on SMB titled: “Small/Medium Business: Tech Support Opportunities.” The report showed that over half (55%) of the 500 SMBs polled experienced computer issues over the last year, and that they are shying away from face-to-face consultancies.

In fact, 55-65% of those polled replied that they prefer to use e-mail or phone support options over a face-to-face session. The tech support options that are most interesting to SMBs right now are Virus protection (38%), device repair and replacement for nonfunctioning items (34%) and replacement of stolen devices (33%). The report showed that many SMBs (54%) are going to electronic retailers for these support options, while 45% are turning to broadband service providers.

“Nearly 60% of U.S. SMBs are interested in new support services,” Brett Sappington, Director of Research at Parks Associates explained yesterday. “That's an excellent opportunity for broadband service providers, which already are providing a service to them, to further bolster that relationship.”
