Here we go again! As I do each week, I am really enjoying bringing our readers a quick round-up of the blog coverage I didn’t manage to get to during the week prior.
In addition, here at SMB Nation, we are already gearing up for our annual fall event to be held Oct. 10-12 in Las Vegas at the Rio! We have been hard at work designing a brand new Web site specifically for this event, which you must check out today: http://fall.smbnation.com/. For additional information on the new Web site, our cool XP Migrations video produced by Bigger Brains, and our fall conference, check out our blog post here.
Also, this Thursday at 10 am PST, you will want to join Harrybbb and Urban Gillis, Vice President, SMB, Jabra on 3 Megatrends that are shaping what the future of work will look like… “We just don’t need offices like we used to,” Regus founder and CEO Mark Dixon told me. “It’s an imposition on employees to ask them to drive for 50 miles to an office to use a computer and a phone. They have those where they are.”
Click here to register for our webinar and to be entered into OUR AMAZING GIVEAWAY PRIZE! One lucky webinar attendee will be the recipient of a very cool Jabra SoleMate Bluetooth speaker device. I actually already own one, and I can tell you that it will literally change your life (and the way you listen to music)!
Please take some time to peruse a few snippets of information that we didn’t get a chance to bring you last week….let us also know if there was something we might have missed, which is not mentioned in this entry…because as you know…we love news!
1.) Nutanix Signs Promark to Distribute Virtual Computing Platform in North America: Nutanix has entered into a distribution agreement with Promark Technology, an Ingram Micro company and premier value-added distributor of data storage solutions. Under the terms of the agreement, the Nutanix Virtual Computing Platform will now be available to Promark’s vast portfolio value-added resellers (VARs) in the United States through a dedicated distribution sales team.
Nutanix recently announced the Nutanix Partner Network, an end-to-end partner program designed to maximize partner productivity and profitability. By partnering with Promark, Nutanix expands its distribution network and further strengthens its 100 percent channel strategy.
Promark holds a General Services Administration (GSA) schedule and distributes solutions through a two-tier distribution channel that resellers can use to sell products to government customers even if they do not hold a GSA contract themselves. Promark also has experience helping other high-growth technology companies like Veeam scale and expand their distribution.

3.) Zetta.net Helps Architectural Firm Reduce Costs by more than 50 Percent: Zetta.net said that Prellwitz Chilinski Associates Inc. (PCA) has selected Zetta.net’s cloud server backup and disaster recovery (DR) to replace PCA's NetApp filer offsite backup solution, resulting in dramatically lower costs and less management time. Since deploying Zetta.net, the 45-person architecture firm - with a 30-year track record of award-winning designs - has seen a 50 percent cost reduction and a 90 percent improvement in time spent on backup management compared to its previous backup solution.
PCA’s IT environment is centered around a NetApp FAS2240 storage appliance, using about half of its 13TB capacity to manage the large graphics files they generate and manipulate using resource intensive applications like Autodesk’s Revit building information modeling (BIM) program, rendering programs including Sketch-Up and 3ds Max Design, and the Adobe CS6 suite of products.
This critical data needs to be reliably protected for easy access and recovery in the event of downtime or a natural disaster. Therefore backup is an important piece of PCA’s IT management, requiring adjustment and adaptation as technology evolves.
