Calyptix Security recently announced the release of AccessEnforcer version 3.1.16. This latest version includes web filtering for HTTPS sites and was the security company’s response to the Heartbleed vulnerability in OpenSSL, which affected numerous sites last year.
The key goal of this new functionality is to keep staff focused during the day, by blocking HTTPS sites such as Yahoo!, Google and Facebook. With this functionality, network admins can click a single checkbox to apply the same filtering rules to HTTPS sites that the organization currently has in place for HTTP sites.
An interesting feature in the new HTTPS filtering capability is that it can filter the HTTPS standard without decryption, which maintains the chain of encryption and doesn’t allow for security breaches. In addition, all HTTPS sites are tracked in users’ web histories and placed in an automated report.
