Today, Blue Jeans Network announced a series of updates to their cloud-based video collaboration service. The company explained that the new features, discussed below, were developed to meet the rising needs of an increasingly mobile workforce.
“Over the last year as the service has grown dramatically, we have seen a decidedly changing landscape at both the room and the remote end of the spectrum,” said Stu Aaron, Chief Commercial Officer at Blue Jeans Network. “The hallmark of our success has always been connecting business meeting participants in conference rooms with those that cannot be in them. Now with reasonably priced solutions for secondary conference rooms and fully featured mobile options for telecommuters and travelers, we are dramatically expanding the reach of our service to meet our customers' needs.”
Blue Jeans has named the new video collaboration capabilities the “Room to Remote” suite. These new capabilities include:
- A free mobile app for use on iPad and iPhone, which allows users to join any Blue Jeans meeting, without needing a Blue Jeans account. Please note that an account is still required to host any meeting. The application also allows for users to share HD screen content during a meeting.
- Dual HD Stream capabilities in the form of a slider which will allow each meeting participant to move between video and content as they see fit.
- Interoperability with video conferencing device company, Tely, which will provide a more cost-effective conferencing solution for secondary offices. Blue Jeans customers can access their meetings via the device’s on screen menu.
Blue Jeans will provide an in-depth demonstration of this solution at the Enterprise Connect 2013 event in Orlando, FL next week.
