Yesterday, the Autotask Corporation announced the results of a February 2013 survey concerning the state of technology business growth. In particular, the study, which was conducted by Decision Tree Labs, showed that technology providers are experiencing a high drop in the number of billable hours each month, mainly due to inefficient business process.
“As the availability and consumption of business technologies continue to evolve and accelerate, solution providers are tasked with delivering increasingly complex solutions for their clients and are being held accountable for the business outcomes they generate,” said Mark Cattini, President and CEO, Autotask, in a press release sent to SMB Nation this week. “The survey results indicate there is a significant opportunity for solution providers to increase their employee utilization and capture lost revenue by making their internal processes more efficient.”
There were 229 respondents for this survey, of which 54.8% were MSPs, 29.6% were IT Service Providers, 7% were VARs and 1.6% were ISVs. The remaining percentage was comprised of other services. Key findings of the survey include:
- 60% of respondents reported a loss of up to 20 billable hours per month, due to data entry into multiple systems.
- In addition, 23% of respondents said that they lost between 20 and 50 hours per month because they were not able to balance employee time scheduling.
- According to respondents, there are three technologies/trends that are responsible for driving tech business: Cloud/Virtualization (73%), Mobility (65%) and Managed Services (63%).
Autotask plans to host a special webinar this evening at 4pm PDT/ 7pm EDT to go over the full survey findings. Interested parties may register for this event here.
