Yesterday, Ovum, an award-winning global analyst firm, released the list of three keywords for IT buyers in 2013. These keywords came from a report conducted in October 2012 that assessed the current IT bundling trend.
According to the report, stability, accessibility and capability are the top keywords for IT buyers this year. In particular, stability was at the forefront as organizations try to prepare for the next 5+ years in their cycle. The result of this is that most IT buyers will be looking for long-term commitments. Another interesting report finding discussed the desire of organizations to “fill out” their portfolios, particularly in the areas of social, cloud, analytics and mobility.
“The fact that we live in very uncertain times makes investment decision-making even more difficult,” explained Principal Analyst, IT Services, Ovum, Jens Butler, in a press release yesterday. “With continuing instability across the global markets and even in locations with historically robust growth such as China and India, the outlook for IT services in 2013 is unpredictable.”
Mr. Butler suggests that organizations broaden their portfolios and invest in a solid vendor management model.
