Yesterday, communications service provider, Alcatel-Lucent announced the availability of a new collaboration application suite for small to medium businesses. The OpenTouch suite, revealed at the Enterprise Connect 2013 event in Orlando, FL, is aimed at helping organizations meet their growing communication needs.
“This new offer is based on OpenTouch, a next generation and polymorphic architecture, which offers the same technology deployed on the premise, in the cloud or a combination of both. We see the level of excitement already generated with our partners and are working to further expansions in other markets as we speak,” explained Michael Emelianoff, President of Alcatel-Lucent, in a press release yesterday.
Alcatel-Lucent outlined the following five key features of the OpenTouch suite on their website yesterday1:
- Native visual communication capabilities
- Real-time conferencing
- Social knowledge and applications context
- Meaningful presence information
- User-centric connections
The offering level released today, Enterprise Cloud, allows MSPs to offer UCaaS features, including instant messaging, telephony, video services and web collaboration to their clients. The company explained that this application suite is software-based and is designed to work with any hardware. Organizations may decide to either deploy the solution all in the cloud or as an addition to the existing infrastructure.
