Acronis today announced the release of Acronis Access 7, designed specifically to allow SMBs a safe and secure data access, sync, and share solution. I was able to spend a few moments with Anders Lofgren, Acronis’ VP of Product Management, Mobility, and we had a great discussion both about the new solution, and how it was developed for the company’s resellers.
To begin, Anders explained that today’s announcement starts with a minor name change. The original Acronis Access has been renamed to Acronis Access Advanced, and is designed for larger enterprise organizations. The SMB version then becomes Acronis Access 7. This falls in line with the company’s naming convention for its other product lines, such as the BDR solution, and it brings consistency to the solution portfolio. Why is Acronis focusing on the Access solution for SMBs? Well, Anders said that the organization recognized that its SMB customer and reseller bases face unique challenges, and that the current marketplace is not meeting those needs as well as it could be.
The answer? Acronis Access 7, which allows an organization to mobilize business by providing an on-premise solution to sync and share across any device. I asked Anders how his team developed this solution, and I was pleased to learn that they utilized a “common technology infrastructure,” currently in place for their BDR offerings. The goal here is that the company can keep consistent technology and provide a seamless experience for the end user.
The key point of the Acronis Access solution is that it is completely on-premise, and this is for a very specific reason. Although cloud-based mobility solutions are becoming more common, SMBs are worried about security and want control of their data, particularly those in sensitive verticals, such as healthcare, legal and accounting. Acronis Access 7 is a piece of software that works with the company’s existing hardware to provide a safe BYOD experience.
