8x8 to Partner with SoftBank Telecom

8x8 logo 250pxThis morning, 8x8, Inc. and SoftBank Telecom Corp. have announced that they have entered into an agreement wherein SoftBank will be able to license 8x8’s enterprise cloud software. This will allow the Tokyo-based telecom to develop a suite of virtualized cloud services for their global customers.

“8x8 is delighted to partner with SoftBank to deliver these valuable services to their business customers,” said 8x8 Chairman & CEO Bryan Martin, in a press release today. “SoftBank is one of the most agile, successful telecom service providers in the world and the speed at which they move matches 8x8’s similar culture of always leading rather than following the market.”

In particular, 8x8 will license their Zergio Enterprise Cloud software for SoftBank. This software is subscription-based and has four RAM and storage tier options. Users may import and protect VMs, and automate their provisioning process. As part of today’s announcement, 8x8 will be provided with installation and 36 months of license fees, as well as development fees, which the company will use to  create additional VDI software specifically for SoftBank.

“SoftBank selected 8x8 after an extensive search of software providers based on 8x8’s clear commitment to quality, scalability and reliability as well as flexibility and cost competitiveness,” said Ken Miyauchi, Director of The Board, SoftBank Telecom Corp. “SoftBank is pleased to partner with such a nimble, Silicon Valley company whose culture mirrors our own and whose experience in delivering cloud services will be invaluable in helping us to rapidly deploy similar services in Japan. SoftBank plans to release these VDI/Zergio services in Japan to start, though they expect to rapidly expand throughout Asia and into the rest of the global market. For more information about this agreement, please refer to today’s press release from BusinessWire
