Oops…My Bad! 5 Blogs We Missed Last Week

Here we go again! As I do each week, I am really enjoying bringing our readers a quick round-up of the blog coverage I didn’t manage to get to during the week prior.

A reminder that voting has commenced for the 3rd Annual SMB Nation 150 Awards; go to www.SMB150.com, to vote for all of your industry favorites…voting expires soon!

Tomorrow I will be making my way across the Hudson (from my home office in NJ) to attend the National Retail Federation (NRF) Show at the Javits Center...I will let you know what I see in terms of what's new and cool in the world of retail technology!

Please take some time to peruse a few snippets of information that we didn’t get a chance to bring you last week. Let us also know if there was something we might have missed, which is not mentioned in this entry…because as you know…we love news!

1.) Cbeyond Teams with Insight to Provide InsightCloud Solution Center: Cbeyond has teamed with the U.S. division of Insight Enterprises to offer Cbeyond's TotalCloud Data Center cloud computing services to Insight's customer base.

Through the InsightCloud Solution Center, Insight's more than 70,000 commercial and public sector clients as well as 5,000 global manufacturers and publishers will soon have the ability to purchase and manage Cbeyond's TotalCloud Data Center, a robust suite of cloud services and solutions. By leveraging these cloud services, enterprises can address their growing virtualization, data center and networking needs through a single client portal.

TotalCloud Data Center is a cloud data center Infrastructure-as-a-Service product line which comprises virtual and physical servers and includes Microsoft's Hyper-V hypervisor management engine, Cisco's Unified Computing System (UCS), EMC storage, F5 load balancing and a Fortinet firewall (IDS/IPS).  Cbeyond will manage the data center environment, server hardware and OS layer (installation, testing and patches) for virtual and physical servers.

2.) DinCloud’s Hosted Virtual Desktop Designed to Increase IT Efficiency, Reduce Costs: dinCloud obtained a win last week when King’s Hawaiian, maker of the number one branded dinner roll in the U.S., selected the company to implement its hosted virtual desktop, server, and storage services to help IT improve efficiency and better manage operations across King’s Hawaiian’s baking facilities and restaurants.

dinCloud provided King’s Hawaiian with hosted virtual desktops (dinHVD), hosted virtual servers (dinServer), and NetApp-based cloud storage (dinBackup) – part of its business provisioning services. By moving King’s Hawaiian’s business (servers, applications, data, and desktops) to the cloud, the company is able to enjoy more control and easier management of its IT infrastructure. Additionally, dinCloud successfully brought some of King’s Hawaiian’s business applications into the cloud, including several unique homegrown apps.

3.) KineticD Supports BDR for Microsoft Great Plains SQL Database: KineticD said last week that RMK Consulting, a consulting firm that implements, manages, and
maintains IT infrastructure for SMBs, now relies on Microsoft Certified KineticCloud.

The Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains suite provides core business management
tools that tie into a Microsoft SQL database; however, the software has definitive backup requirements.

KineticCloud Backup for Servers offers online backup technology that protects SMBs, MSPs and VARs securely, reliably and economically. KineticD products are certified by Microsoft providing the assurance that they have been tested and meet customer expectations for ongoing service and support of the latest technologies.

4.) VMTurbo Continues Record Revenue Growth: VMTurbo last week said it recorded a record fourth quarter, capping a stellar FY12 with over 300 percent year-over-year growth and demonstrating significant momentum for its flagship product, Operations Manager.

In addition to new product releases, new partnerships, and geographic expansion, VMTurbo experienced significant increases in top line revenue, existing customer growth, and new customer adoption across mid-market, enterprise, and service provider market segments.
