As it is Election Day in the US, I can’t let the opportunity to discuss the following pass by. Assuming you are an IT Pro out in the wild and want to improve your leadership skills, you really should get involved in Microsoft’s non-partisan Voices for Innovation political trade association. The short story is you’ll meet leaders and thereby improve your leadership skills along the way.
Last week I was discussing the Fall elections with Jonathan Friebert, VFI’s Director. He showed me “Bing Predicts,” which is a new analytical election tool recently released by Microsoft. Friebert shared that this is a new tool, and wanted me to monitor how well it works. I’ve agreed. As you can see in the figure above, as of this writing, Bing Predicts is predicting that the US Senate will flip. You need to study this, as it’s essentially a bell curve that reflects the majority of predictions showing the Republican Party garnering 51 or over seats. It’s very cool.
Closer to home, in Alaska where I grew up, Bing Predicts has Sullivan as the favorite over my childhood friend Begich in winning the US Senate seat (figure below). This is shown in my other figure. You can find Bing Predictions by simply typing “Election” at www.bing.com.
Most important of all – get out and vote!
