It is with great sadness to report that John Harris, vice president for Seattle-based Network Support for Small Business, has passed. John drove success in the Small Business Server community for over 13 years in this role, serving numerous Seattle-based businesses with his expertise. Many readers will recall John’s active community participation in the Puget Sound Small Business Server (PSSBS) user group. He was a young 66-years old, and just a few days shy of turning 67.
We remember John best for being a huge supporter for SMB Nation since our start. At the Fall conference in 2009, John teamed with his colleague Tyler Wisenburg, to deliver the infamous Saturday Night Special hands-on workshop. Against conventional wisdom that suggests people like to party in Las Vegas on a Saturday night, the room was full as the gentlemen delivered a deep SBS lecture. Who needed show girls and Blackjack tables when you had John!
We already miss John and were greatly looking forward to his participation at the SMB Nation Spring show in May.
Update: We heard today from Tyler Wisenburg, one of John's colleagues at Network Support for Small Business, regarding memorial service information for John. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so on Saturday, March 23, between 5:30 and 7:00 PM at the William C. Warner Building, 405 E St NE, Auburn, WA 98002. Tyler adds that anyone should feel free to contact him if additional information is needed.
