Intuit, Inc. study “Small Business Success in the Cloud” found that by 2020, nearly 80 percent of U.S. small businesses will be adapted to cloud computing, more than doubling the 37 percent currently using cloud technology.
Inuit believes that this will trend will transform the way that small businesses operate as they become more cloud dependent and gain access to services that can improve efficiency and success.
“This report paints a detailed picture of how small businesses will increasingly use cloud technology not only for efficiency gains, but also in more transformative ways that redefine the rules for achieving long-term success,” said Terry Hicks, vice president and general manager, QuickBooks Online Ecosystem at Intuit. “Whether you’re a tech startup in Silicon Valley or a mom-and-pop shop on Main Street, cloud technology presents radically new opportunities, and potentially disruptive changes. This report is all about developing a deep understanding of how small business can stay ahead of the curve.”
Small businesses will have opportunities to explore new business models. Some, Inuit suggests, will use the cloud to take advantage of specialized services from cloud-based providers. Other businesses will operate with employees in the same space virtually, yet remote in reality. Through the cloud, small businesses will have the opportunity to compete with larger firms or build a strong portfolio of skills or services.
