Digium earlier this week said that it acquired VocalCloud, a provider of cloud-based VoIP solutions, in order to create Digium Cloud Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of Digium.
The acquisition, which closed on August 30, will now, through Digium Cloud Services, allow the company will offer Switchvox Cloud, the hosted version of its award-winning Switchvox business phone system. It will use the new entity for the delivery of future cloud-based Unified Communications (UC) products and services.
Because of the growing demand for a hosted solution from SMB customers, Digium launched Switchvox Cloud in partnership with VocalCloud earlier this year. Immediate success of the offering resulted in the two organizations electing to join forces. Acquiring VocalCloud's expertise and proven infrastructure enables Digium to deliver its Switchvox business phone system to SMBs through the new subsidiary, while managing the entire offering, end to end.
Digium has ensured its offerings are channel-friendly and available through its broad network of partners. Given the product's architecture, Switchvox can be delivered as a hosted or premises-based solution, and customers' systems can be easily migrated from one to the other. This enables channel partners to provide solutions that best meet their customers' changing needs.
